Welcome to Week 10 and the final week of Semester 1. What a wonderful Semester it has been with so many achievements. When I look back at the term I reflect upon the success of the swimming and athletics carnivals, amazing Eisteddfod results, continued solid results in all aspects of the learning of our students, quality teaching, strong well being programs, the success of the Charism Cup - and so much more. Well done SJP and it will be an amazing Semester 2.
SCHOOL REPORTS Semester 1 student reports for all students will be available on the Compass app from Wednesday - 3:00 pm. If you need any assistance in accessing your child's report, please contact our office team.
Your child's report is a celebration of what they have been able to achieve this semester and also so targets to improve their learning.
I would like to acknowledge the work of our teachers in writing the reports. They are very dedicated in ensuring your child's report is an accurate reflection of their progress.
A reminder that there will be a Pupil Free Day Monday 22nd July. Students will commence school for Term 3 on Tuesday 23rd July.
Whole Day Absences via Parent Portal
Whole Day Absences If your child is absent from school for a whole day or longer, please submit details of the absence via the Parent Portal. This should be completed within 7 days of the absence. There is no need to adjust times for whole day absences. If your child will only be absent for a partial day, the absence will be recorded as your child is signed in or out via the kiosk at the front office. You do not need to add an early pick up or late drop off via the Parent Portal. Unexplained absences for your child will be displayed on your homepage when you log in to Parent Portal.
COMPASS
The COMPASS platform is our school’s main communication tool. All significant notes and information are sent through COMPASS. To ensure you don’t miss out on any updates, please ensure your notifications are set up and that you regularly read the newsletters, notes, and other communications. Your attention to these details helps us maintain a smooth and efficient flow of information.
Gospel and Reflection:
Mark 5:21-24 Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman 21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him.
Family Connection
There are many ways in which we can compare the request for healing made by Jairus and the request of the woman with the hemorrhage. One comparison helps us think about prayer. Jairus asked Jesus for healing on his daughter’s behalf; the woman with the hemorrhage had no one to speak for her and bravely approached Jesus on her own initiative. In our prayers, we do both. We intercede for others’ needs, and we also courageously express our own needs to God. We find hope in Jesus’ response to both of these people, who sought him out in their hour of need. As you gather as a family, talk about some of the things you have prayed for this week. Notice that some of your prayers may have been for other people, and some of your prayers may have been for your own needs.
God Bless and have a wonderful week.
If you are driving during the term break - drive safe.
We look forward to seeing our amazing students on Tuesday 23rd of July.

Snug as a Bug in a rug Day: Firstly, thank you to all of the families who have already donated clothing and blankets to our Vinnies Winter Appeal. We know Vinnies will be very grateful for your support!
Our appeal will finish this Thursday when students and staff will come to school out of uniform for Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day. It is very important to remember, why we will be doing this - to raise awareness of those in our community who need support and assistance during Dubbo’s cold winter months.
If you have not yet donated any clothing, blankets, slippers etc, we ask that your child/ren make a monetary donation this coming Thursday. Donations of clothing/blankets etc, can continue to be brought to the 6 Blue classroom until Thursday.
Please see the next page for more details on Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day!
Year 3 - Sacrament of First Holy Communion/Eucharist: Enrolment Masses for this sacrament are now over. If you would like your child to receive this sacrament this year and you missed an enrolment Mass, please contact St Brigid’s Sacramental Coordinator Rosie Hosking asap on: sacraments.dubbo@cdob.org.au.
Children who are not enrolled within the coming weeks, will be unable to make this sacrament until 2025.
Visit to Masonic Village: This Wednesday, 6B will visit the residents of the Masonic Village and engage with them by completing word searches and crosswords. We trust 6B students will enjoy this opportunity to brighten the day of residents and bring smiles to their faces.
Grade Masses: Today our Year 4 students have attended Mass at St. Brigid’s. They have been the last class to celebrate a Mass with Fr Greg this term. Holding a grade Mass this term for every class at SJP, has proven to be a very valuable moment in strengthening our students faith and extending their knowledge of Catholic practices. A big thankyou to our teachers who organised each of the grade Masses and also to the parents and grandparents who attended and supported their children. It was so lovely to see you there!
Mass at St. Brigid’s Church:
Saturday - 5:00pm, Sunday - 9:00am and Sunday - 5:00pm
Due to heating issues in St Brigid’s, all weekday Masses will be held at St. Laurence’s Church throughout June, July, August.
Enjoy your week!

Wellbeing News - Mrs. Kenny
SPB4L For our final week, our SPB4L focus is on ‘keeping our playground clean’. We have seen a reduction of rubbish on the playground and are aiming to reduce it even further. Students have been reminded to place rubbish in bins before going to play, use the ‘return and earn’ bins for bottles and picking up rubbish if we see it as we walk around the school.
